May
9, 2005--
The city has ordered
We Energies to clean up a utility-owned lot at 5212 W. Wisconsin
Ave. that one neighbor said is a blight on the neighborhood.

The
lot
Neighbor
Mike Neville said he called the utility more
than a year ago to complain about the lot, but
was brushed off. The We Energies representative
he talked to said it was unclear whether the
utility even owned the deteriorating retaining
wall bordering the property.
"We
(Energies) spends a small fortune on PR every
year and yet highhandedly ignores the most basic
of community relations," Neville wrote
to the webteam. "I just hope they don't
have the same cavalier attitude towards the
running of their utility,"
We
Energies spokeswoman Margaret Stanfield said
last week the utility would clean up the site.
She also said that a utility real estate specialist
visited the lot Friday. The specialist reported
that the wall was bowed in a few spots, but
its condition has not changed in a few months
and there did not appear to be a need for immediate
action.
Stanfield
said she had not seen the wall herself, and
the utility would be open to further discussion.
