March
18, 2005 -- It's finally legal to hoist
a few in the Miller Park parking lot before a
concert.
City
ordinance actually prohibited drinking on the
Miller Park parking lot, along with all the other
public parking lots in the city, said Ald. Michael
Murphy.
But,
in a heroic move to save a city tradition, the
Common Council this week adopted a resolution
waiving the city's prohibition. The waiver applies
to the Miller Park lot for the rest of the year
on the days the stadium is used for sporting events
or concerts.
Murphy
said the waiver was needed because some members
of the Milwaukee Police Department, which is taking
over stadium duty this year from the Sheriff's
Department, insisted they would enforce the no
drinking ordinance.
