Dems trounce
Republicans in Story Hill
But 4:1 margin is closer than citywide gap
Feb.
25 -- Democratic presidential candidates outpolled
their Republican opponents by nearly a 4-1 margin in Story Hill in the
Feb. 19 primary election, according to the City Election Commission.
Republicans,
though, did better in Story Hill than they did in Milwaukee as a whole,
where Republican presidential candidates were trounced
by almost 7-1, according to election returns.
In
the neighborhood's only local race, incumbent County Supervisor Lynne
DeBruin beat her closest challenger by better than 3-1. DeBruin
got 262 votes in Story Hill; conservative Daniel
Wycklendt received 82 votes; and Daniel Cody, eliminated from the
race, got 74 votes.*
Democratic
presidential candidates won 380 votes in Ward 282, which includes the
Story Hill neighborhood. Republicans recived 101 votes.

The
top Democratic vote-getter, by far, was Barack Obama, who received 243
votes. Hillary Clinton, with 134 Story Hill votes, finished a distant
second.
On
the Republican side, John McCain led the pack with 65 votes, and Mike
Huckabee limped to the finish line in second place with 24 votes.
Democratic
candidates received 380 votes in Story Hill while Republicans got a
total of 101.
Citywide,
Democratic presidential candidates got 125,551 votes, while Republican
candidates received 18,120.
