Kerry wins in Story Hill
Loses elsewhere

Nov. 8 -- Democratic presidential contender John Kerry carried Story Hill by a wide margin, defeating incumbent President Bush, 468 to 316.

Irrelevant would-be spoiler Ralph Nader scored a whopping five votes in ward 282, the Story Hill ward.

The big Story Hill victory for Kerry was not enough to overcome Bush victories elsewhere, and the president, with 99% of the wards counted, was re-elected with a 59,459,765 to 55,949,407 popular vote, according to CNN.

Nader, with 400,706 nationwide, barely was an election footnote.

In other Story Hill election news, Democratic State Sen. Gwendolynne Moore defeated Republican challenger Gerald Boyle, 448 to 300, in the quest for the 4th Congressional District seat being vacated by retiring Democrat Gerald Kleczka. The 4th Congressional District includes Milwaukee, West Milwaukee, Cudahy, South Milwaukee, and part of West Allis.

Moore captured about 72% of the Milwaukee vote and 70% of the vote districtwide.

Iincumbent State Rep. David Cullen defeated Matt Adamczyk, 466 to 296, in Story Hill.

Cullen faced the tightest Milwaukee race of any Democrat, capturing 60% of the vote in the city wards in the 13th Assembly District. He won 57% of the votes throughout the district, which includes part of Milwaukee's west side, all of West Milwaukee and the eastern half of Wauwatosa.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold kicked Republican tush in Milwaukee on his way to re-election. Feingold captured 75% of the city's vote, compared to Republican Tim Michel's 24%.

Adamczyk's major supporter is Adamczyk; Cullen outpaces opponent in fund-raising

Oct. 31 -- Republican Matt Adamczyk is digging deep into his own pockets for his campaign to unseat the incumbent in the 13th Assembly District, Democrat David Cullen.

The 13th Assembly District includes Story Hill.

Adamczyk has contributed at least $7,494 of the $16,840 his campaign raised from individuals from Jan. 1, 2003 through Oct. 18, according to Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. The campaign finance reform group listed both the total raised by candidates and individual contributions of $100 or more.

Cullen raised $36,716 through Oct 18. To see a list of major contributors to Cullen's campaign, click here.

Adamczyk's support is largely a family affair. Just $1,400 of the $10,144 Adamczyk raised in $100-or-more donations from individuals came from donors with last names other than Adamczyk. To see a list of the major donors, click here.
