Nov. 14, 2005 -- Story Hill resident and 10th District Ald. Michael Murphy was named the city's best alderman by readers of the Shepherd Express newspaper.

While the honor is nice, Murphy said, "The reality is you're only as good as yesterday, so I don't let any of that go to my head."

The alternative weekly newspaper said Murphy, chairman of the council's Finance and Personnel Committee and a member of the both the Judiciary and Legislation and Zoning, Neighborhods and Development Committee, "could be considered one of the more powerful players in City Hall."

It also says that Murphy's is "one of the more reasoned voices on the council on issues such as city subsidies and urban sprawl."
