MMSD to pay $500,000 for city warehouse near Hawley Rd. bridge

Nov. 5, 2007 -- The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District will pay $500,000 for the city warehouse just east of the Hawley Rd. bridge as part of the District's Western Milwaukee Flood Management Project, according to city documents.

The Common Council's Public Works Committee last week approved the a resolution that would declare the property surplus so that it could be sold.

MMSD is buying and tearing down a number of buildings along the Menomonee River as part of the flood control project. The warehouse is immediately north of the river.

The Sewerage District also would reimburse the city for moving expenses, according to the resolution.

The city will be allowed to occupy the warehouse until June 30, 2009, to accommodate the needs of the Election Commission, according to the resolution.
