HONOR
drops Coast Guard effort
Group
was trying to rescue historic station
July
31, 2006 -- The American Indian group
that was trying to redevelop the abandoned Lincoln Memorial
Dr. will not complete the deal, putting the fate of the
historic building once more in doubt, according to Supervisor
Lynne DeBruin.
DeBruin
said she understood the group, HONOR, is disbanding.
The
county and the HONOR (Honor Our Neighbors, Origins and Rights
Inc.) signed a deal in February 2005 calling for the group
to raise $3.5 million in two years to allow it to turn the
1916 building into an educational and cultural center. |
